The election day of the 2020 US election presents a dramatic scene: Biden and trump did not become the final winners on that day, but both believed that they had a chance to win.

In the early hours of November 4, Biden arrived at the Democratic campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, to cheer up supporters who had been waiting all night. “We are satisfied with the current situation,” he said. “I think we are going to win this election. Trump was quick to respond on social media: “we are moving forward, but they (Biden) want to steal the election victory. We will never let them do that. Ballot papers closed by mail are invalid! ” In Miami, Florida’s second largest city, trump supporters flocked to the streets to celebrate.

In the vote count on November 3, trump won 23 states, including Florida, and led more than 60% of the pending states. If the lead is maintained, trump can win more than 270 electoral votes and be re elected. According to the constitution of the United States, the presidential election is decided by 538 electoral votes based on the results of primary elections in each state. Candidates with more than half of the votes can be elected.

However, early in the morning of November 4, Wisconsin and Michigan, two key swing states, suddenly turned. Biden, who had been lagging behind before, opposed trump, and the balance of victory also tilted to Biden.

According to the analysis of the New York Times, this year’s general election is likely to lead both Republicans and Democrats into a period of chaos after the decisive process of the election on election day has been lengthened, no matter who is finally in the White House by trump and Biden.
